Second Time Around

Does Dan Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, have some screws loose? After the way he attacked Lebron James for leaving the Cavs to take his talents to South Beach, I would say he’s just an owner scorned. But now that he rehired Mike Brown after firing him in 2010, I have to say he has lost it. Gilbert may be a prominent businessman, but his ability to run a NBA franchise is suspect. He has proven to make emotional decisions and now he’s running back to his former coach to try and right his wrongs like an episode of “My Name Is Earl.”

What makes Gilbert believe that Coach Brown can resurrect the Cavs? This team looks like a mediocre NCAA team. Besides Kyrie Irving the rest of the team are subpar back up players and third stringers. There are no star players on this team and in today’s NBA you have to have at least two to three all-star players on your team to be competitive. Brown may be a defensive guru, but the team he has now could not guard their own shadow. And Brown’s Princeton offense did not cut it in LA and it will not fly in Cleveland. He better hire an assistant coach to handle his offense and bring something exciting and effective to the Cavs fans.

As for Gilbert, he’s obviously has too much money on his hands and could care less about winning, because he has not tried to replace Lebron’s absence with any trade upgrades to help Irving win some games. I know he can’t replace Lebron, but he has to get some marquee players through making some trades. He for surely will not be drafting another Lebron again anytime soon. For now, I guess Gilbert will just settle for rekindling his old relationship with his ex. May be it will result in more wins, if not, his conscience will at least be cleared.
